Breastfeeding Pumping – Recommended Pumps – Part 3

former

There are a lot of breastpumps that you can choose from, and therefore it can be really confusing.  Plus as I mentioned before in other posts, not all pumps are created equal.   In Parts One and Two on this series on Recommended Pumps, I have discussed two other types of Medela single pumps.  The last Medela single pump that I want to speak about today is the Swing Breastpump.

There are a lot of reviews on this pump, and most of them are very good.  I do not know why it is called the Swing pump, but what a lot of moms like about this pump is how small it is which makes it so portable.  Moms talk about being able to carry it in their purse discreetly, without needing to lug a big pump to work.  It is a single pump, which means that it pumps only one breast at a time, which receives mixed reviews depending on the mom and how quick they are able to pump.  It runs on batteries or can be plugged in, depending on where you are at the time you need to pump.  It is also BPA and DEHP-free.

What makes this pump so unique is that it uses “two-phase expression technology.”  It  mimics the way a baby initially sucks quickly to get the milk flow started, and then how a baby’s suck changes to more slow, rhythmic sucking  once the milk does start flowing.  The breastfeeding pump can be placed on the table, attached to a belt clip, or worn around your neck with a strap that is provided to you when you purchase it.

Most moms who have used this pump rave about the quality of pump you get for the cost, and use it daily.

So if you are looking for an electric (batteries or plug-in) breastfeeding pump that provides you with portability and ease of use, you may find that the Swing Medela breastpump fits your needs.

There are two locations that I suggest you check out for good prices on this pump: Medela Swing Breast Pump or Shop for Single Breastpumps at Nursing Mother Supplies. The former link is where you’ll find reviews from real moms, and on the latter link you can find a great comparison chart of various breast pumps.
