Knowing that you want to breastfeed & pump is a fairly easy decision to make.  However, knowing what breastpump most suits your needs is something else.  There are many kinds of pumps out there, and it can all be very confusing.  The most important thing for you to remember is that not all pumps are created equal.  Some pumps on the market are damaging to breast tissue.  You want a pump that is similar to a baby’s suckling and has a good track record of delivering results for other moms.  As well, there are different types of pumps, varying from occasional use to regular use.   Over the next several posts, I want to provide you with information that will hopefully make it easier for you to decide what breast pump you will need to purchase to make your breastfeeding pumping experience the best for you.

Breastfeeding Pumping

Breastfeeding pumping  is done by many mothers for a variety of reasons.  Some moms need to pump because their babies are born prematurely, and are in intensive care away from them for a while.  Pumping, in these cases, is necessary to initiate and maintain lactation.  Other moms may pump for a short period of time if they are experiencing cracked nipples.  Furthermore, other moms pump so that their babies can be provided with a bottle of breast milk when they are away for their child for a few hours or during a day at work.
